Janton R. Barrineau

Janton Barrineau was born in Covington Kentucky as the sixth child and fifth son of WWII Veteran J.K. Barrineau, originally from Charleston South Carolina. J.K. Barrineau served in the U.S. Army, 5th Division, 10th Infantry, Company C, and was wounded near St. Lo France in late July 1944. Because of his Dad’s service, he became very interested as a young child in all things WWII after discovering his Dad’s combat helmet, hidden deeply in an old duffle bag in the bedroom closet. Janton continued his interest and fascination with WWII and WWII vets into his adult years, resulting in taking his father back to Normandy on his 80th birthday in 2003. Recently, his father’s helmet was inducted into the National WWII Museum’s collection of rare artifacts, where it’s presently featured in their Normandy Gallery. Janton is a veteran tour guide, having made numerous trips to Normandy demonstrating an unusual passion for linking people with their WWII heritage. He states, “The WWII generation was the greatest generation. However, perhaps their greatest legacy and contribution is the costly freedom they helped to preserve for their direct descendants and all future freedom-loving people.” Janton resides today in Kentucky with his wife Sheila, his son Jayden, and daughter Jannah Brooke. He is also a proud Papa to his grandson Michael Stone and grandaughter Presleigh.
